On 29 September 2026, an Open Day was held in the province of Mantua, as part of LIFE Carbon Farming activities, providing an opportunity to discuss the links between production efficiency, animal welfare and environmental sustainability. Hosted at Società Agricola Belvedere, the event brought the project’s sustainability topics closer to the everyday reality of dairy farming. The Open Day brought together around 15 professionals and technical experts from the livestock sector, with specific expertise in milking systems.
The initiative contributes to LIFE Carbon Farming’s knowledge-transfer and dissemination activities through farm Open Days, which are designed to encourage exchange between farmers and advisers and to showcase practical approaches connected with the transition towards lower-carbon farming systems.
During the event, particular attention was given to the milking system and milking management, exploring the relationship between milking efficiency, udder health and farm performance. The discussion highlighted an important message: environmental sustainability and good farm management can go hand in hand.
Field-based initiatives such as this Open Day help turn sustainability objectives into practical discussion, bringing farmers and technical experts together and connecting climate ambitions with everyday farm management decisions.
